 NATURAL HOME MAGAZINE’S GREEN PRODUCT LINE

 Natural Home magazine launched a line of environmentally friendly kitchenware in June 2008.  The set includes various glassware created from 100 percent recycled glass and an assortment of utensils and cleaning products made from bamboo.  The products initially will be available at Natural Home’s Web site: www.NaturalHomeMagazine.com.  Other distribution outlets will be announced shortly.

Bamboo

Tough, durable and lightweight, bamboo is a natural in the kitchen. It is stronger than oak, considered the most durable of hardwoods.  It’s also one of nature’s most sustainable resources, reaching maturity in just four years — without pesticides or chemicals. Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant in the world and is not a tree; it’s a grass, and it grows like one. Many species of bamboo can grow two feet or more a day. When it’s harvested, it need not be replanted, because it will grow a new shoot from its extensive root system. So bamboo renews itself readily, unlike hardwood trees, which, once cut, are gone forever.  Bamboo’s density makes it naturally water-resistant, which inhibits germs and bacteria. It won’t scratch your pans like metal and doesn’t absorb moisture like conventional wood.  Additionally, the bonding agents used to seal the bamboo have surpassed all EU environmental standards.

Natural Home’s kitchenware is elegant yet functional, and made by artisans from 100 percent post-consumer recycled glass otherwise destined for landfills.
