When I have a cold that includes a cough, I use something my grandmother used to give us.  If you have a small container (1cup size) that has a good lid, use equal parts of honey, lemon juice and whiskey. (roughly about 3-4 tablespoons each).  When your cough won't stop, shake the container to mix the items and take a small sip.  The ingredients help to sooth your throat along with lessening the pain that comes with a lot of coughing.  The mix can last for a few days, or until you use it up.

I make hot lemon water with ginger. It really sooths a sore throat!

The best remedy for me is my Mom's good old fashioned chicken noodle soup and rest. It really does the trick. Of course, it is very full of extra TLC!

I use a netti pot for nasal congestion.  For a sore throat, mix one table spoon of honey with one table spoon of cider vinegar.  Spoon it down the back of your throat, aiming for the sore part.  It will sting at first, but almost immediately your sore throat will stop hurting.  Repeat if your throat starts to feel sore again.  I don't advise drinking this mixture because it tastes yucky.  (By "spoon" I mean take a spoonful and put it way back in your mouth, trying to bypass all of your tastebuds and then pour it directly into your throat.)

As soon as I feel any symptoms of a cold I take 3 Echinacea tablets for 3-4 days that usually kicks it. If not

I eat chicken soup, I use a saline nasal  mist for congestion. That's it! natural and simple.

A good old fashioned mustard plaster works for me.  Also at night I will rub a mentholatum type rub (a homemade concoction) on my neck and then wrap with a warmed cotton cloth.  My netti pot works wonders when combined with the above.

I use vitamin D in oral spray form to keep my immune system up and homeopathic remedies to treat the symptoms if they develop.

The moment I feel a cold coming on I take Elderberry Syrup four times a day to boost my immune system.  If my throat is sore, then I suck on zinc and honey lozenges.  I also like to purchase a peppermint throat spray to ease the soreness in my throat.  To alleviate the symptoms of a runny nose, I actually recommend chewing several cloves of raw garlic with pieces of apple so that the garlic doesn't hurt your stomach.  Garlic is a natural antibiotic and it does make you feel stronger than you might feel without it.

I then recommend taking a hot bath, as hot as you can take it, and soak long enough to sweat all the toxins out of your body.  Drink tons of water, and enjoy hot tea.  I highly suggest Breathe Easy Yogi tea with Throat Coat Yogi tea.  Mix with raw honey and lemon for added health benefits.

Sleep is so important, so I don't go to work when I'm sick.  In fact, if I have a meeting, I ask them to conference me in.  They love me for doing that because I'm saving them from getting sick as well!

But seriously, sleep as long as you need to sleep.  It may seem strange to sleep for 12 or 14 hours, but your body needs the rest.  And when you aren't sleeping, eat.  Eat hot soup - chicken noodle is the best, and add fresh lemon to it.  Stay warm and laugh a bit by watching a funny movie or your favorite comedian.

And if you develop a cough - I highly suggest long steamy hot showers and drops under the tongue of Warming Lungs by 7 Song Botanicals.  This product literally warms your lungs and helps to loosen phlegm.  It's wonderful!  Another wonderful way to loosen phlegm is by taking an herbal expectorant by Natureade.  Good luck!
