Well, we actually figured out how to use our programmable thermostat! I thought we had last season, but things weren't working out properly. This year it seems to be working well, and my bill shows savings over last year...yay!

Our electric bill plummeted when our dryer broke last summer.  Seeing the energy and cost savings, we continued to hang our clothes to dry after we repaired the machine. On rainy and snowy days, we began hanging our clothes in the basement. Even when we have to use the dryer for some items, we still cut costs and energy use because we can run a short cycle.

Jen, that's interesting about the dryer. I used to hang dry my diapers a lot when the kids were in dipes. Sometimes I'd throw them in the dryer to soften them up a bit b/c they became like shingles. Have you found ways to deal with the stiffness, or are you just used to it now?

Travel to a country and stay with a family that has very little money and really have to do with less. You will find many ways to save on energy and ways to reuse not recycle. Remember that all your stuff that is to be recycled is cleaned and washed in their rivers etc... don't buy it if you can't keep it. I can do it yet but I'm working on it.
