A designer doghouse, complete with a vegetated roof, a photovoltaic solar panel (to power the exhaust fan) and recycled building materials, was created by the Frank Harmon Architect team for the 2005 Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina fundraiser. Dubbed the Dog Box, this pooch palace demonstrates that the principles of sustainable architecture can be applied to any built structure—even a dog house. They’re not available for retail—unless you roll over and beg. www.FrankHarmon.com

And on Your Left…
What’s the hottest ticket in Little Rock, Arkansas? Green tours through Bill Clinton’s presidential library, which received U.S. Green Building Council LEED certification. While visitors browse a full-scale replica of the Oval Office, they can learn about the building’s environmental features, including energy- and water-reducing measures, solar panels, specially insulated glass, radiant-floor heating and cooling, recycled-content and local building materials, electric-car recharge stations, and bicycle racks. Green tours are offered on Saturdays or by request: (501) 748-0419; www.ClintonFoundation.org.
