ANSWERS:

1. (b) 4 gallons per minute. Normal showers spew 2 to 10 gallons of water per minute. A low-flow showerhead can cut water use by about half. To remind yourself to take shorter showers, set a timer for a maximum of five minutes.

2. (c) 4,000 gallons per day. Huge amounts of water are wasted depending on toilet leak severity. Add food coloring to your tank to check for leaks; if color shows up in the bowl, call the plumber.

3. (True). Tub water capacity ranges from 41 to 82 gallons, so water savings depend on tub size.

4. (c) 2 to 5 gallons per use. Faucets manufactured before 1980 use 5 to 7 gallons of water per minute. Newer models or faucets with a flow restrictor use just 2 to 3 gallons per minute.
