As a testament to the notion that sustainable design goes hand-in-hand with trendsetting architecture, the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., is showcasing Big and Green: Toward Sustainable Architecture in the 21st Century. This exhibition displays examples of green technology and sustainable architecture, with a special focus on big buildings and recognition of the movement’s pioneers. Visitors experience Big and Green through photographs, models, drawings, and structural models, as well as electronic interactive components. A definitive 200-page catalog and a strong schedule of education and public programs complement the exhibition.

The hope is that Big and Green will demonstrate how the potential for green architecture can produce outstanding, exciting buildings. Moreover, the exhibition will be produced with sustainable principles in mind.

Big and Green runs through June 22. For more information, call (202) 272-2448 or visit www.nbm.org.
