Using Roald Gundersen’s innovative “whole-tree architecture,” this unique home is built with weedy, invasive and diseased trees that would otherwise go to waste. Whole trees are inherently strong and sturdy, so cutting down old-growth trees isn’t required. And whole trees lend a graceful, natural quality indoors. With straw bale walls and roof, a solar-powered electric system, passive solar orientation and eco-friendly interior materials, this gorgeous home is a tribute to green building at its finest.
