Founder Mike LaVecchia spent 12 years building snowboards for Burton Snowboards before he decided to move from mountain to sea. He obtained a U.S. Coast Guard Captains License and began running a commercial sailing vessel on Lake Champlain. In 2001, he led the construction of an ‘88 wooden schooner that was built for the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. Mike now applies the classic boatbuilding techniques he learned from that project when he builds surfboards.
